The red star marks the public access ramp Harper Lake is about 3/4 mile long and 1/4 mile wide. It covers 83 acres and has two miles of shoreline. There is a small island in the southern end of the lake. The island is Manistee National Forest land.

Harper Lake Resort is just south of the public access ramp denoted by the red star.

The shallow pass between the upper and lower lake is a "no wake" zone to protect the banks from erosion and the loon nests from swamping.

The lake and stream survey shows a maximum depth of about 60 feet in the northern part of the lake and 45 in the southern part..
